My mom raved about this book called ‘Jesus Calling’ she was reading and begged me to let her buy it for me. I relented (super hard…I know).
I’ve been reading Jesus Calling off and on for a couple months. It’s not as good as reading the Bible regularly, but it works on those days that I only have a few moments to spare. (Again…I am the worst Christian ev-ah).
I know there is some controversy surrounding this book, but I’ve read most of it and it’s seems scripturally sound. The Bible is ALWAYS the authority when reading any extra-Biblical book.
To jump-start the New Year, I will post some day-by-day thoughts on the daily scriptures in the devotional for one week.
This “devotional” is more like my notes and thoughts on the Jesus Calling book. I’m not intending this to be a deep scholarly discourse, rather “this is what I thought as I was reading today’s entry.”
Here are the days listed:
- Jesus Calling – Day 7
- Jesus Calling – Day 6
- Jesus Calling – Day 5
- Jesus Calling – Day 4
- Jesus Calling – Day 3
- Jesus Calling – Day 2
- Jesus Calling – Day 1

Uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year by missionary Sarah Young.
Jesus Calling is a devotional filled with uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year. After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to listen to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue. She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but journaling helped her grow closer to God. Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. They are written from Jesus’ point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling. It is Sarah’s fervent prayer that our Savior may bless readers with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure.
