I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to make time for my own personal goals.
How can you do other stuff when you are a mom, wife, homemaker, employee? It seems impossible, right?
By the time I get the kids in bed, and get the hubby…um, you know and the house cleaned, I have only a little time just for me.
Does anyone else experience this?
It feels like every single second of our lives has to be accounted for in order to keep our proverbial ducks in a row!
Remember Evie from Out of this World?
It was an 80s sitcom where the character would press the tips of her pointer fingers together and freeze time in order to figure things out.
I wish I had that power. But I don’t.
I so desperately want to fulfill my dreams, but time is my enemy.
Add in a random doctor’s appointment, a sick kid, or a holiday and the time we set aside for our goals is sucked right out from under us!
It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way
Often we find ourselves longing for dreams deferred, but the biggest lessons in waiting for those dreams is contentment.
But honestly, I hate the word ‘contentment’. I’m like Veruca Salt on Charlie & the Chocolate Factory singing,
“Don’t care how, I want it NOW!”
Daily, I fail to remember that I have past dreams I’m fulfilling currently…like being married, having a home and raising kids. I am so focused on my today dreams, when they will be fulfilled, that I forget to be thankful that God has answered (and is continuing to answer) my prayers from years ago!
Too many times we look at the things we don’t have while forgetting the things we DO have!
Even as I type that…it hurts. I’m not there, guys. I even wrote a fiction book all about being content…and I’m STILL not there.
(If you want to read my book that tells a story of three women who discover peace while waiting on God to work, you can get it here. )
I honestly hope that your dreams come true. Whatever they are.
I honestly believe in right season, if we are diligently preparing for it, they will. Although, I have no magic bullet for getting everything done we want to get done, I know making your dreams a priority helps…so does being organized.
But until those dreams become a reality, my prayer is that we try to focus on the dreams that are already being fulfilled TODAY!
