Gift Ideas for the Christian Men in Your Life

Buying gifts for the men in your life can be incredibly difficult. Not only do companies fail to market these products as extensively but the men in your life are probably going to tell you they ‘don’t care’ what you buy them. But that doesn’t help you very much, which is why in this post I’m going to give you eight fantastic recommendations that every man will love.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

I believe that the meaning of this verse is that it’s not as important what the gift is, so much as the intention and meaning behind the act of giving.

It’s easy to become jaded about the commercialization of Christmas, but as long as in your own heart you believe in giving not reluctantly or under compulsion, but out of compassion, Christmas and giving should be a joyous occasion.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Men in Your Life

1. Event Tickets

Personally, I believe that sharing an experience with somebody is often a much superior gift to buying them an item. If he supports a sports team you might go to a game with him or there could be a band which you think he would enjoy. Every man you know has an event they would love to attend, why not join them and make an evening out of it.

By attaching a dinner before and a cocktail bar after you can enjoy a lovely evening together, even if he wants to watch football!

2. Movies

Although buying people movies has become somewhat redundant with the advent of online streaming services, you might consider buying them a subscription to Netflix or Amazon Prime. This gives the person access to thousands of movies at the touch of a button and should be an exciting gift for anybody who hasn’t tried these services before.

3. Religious Items of Importance

Whilst writing this article I had a flashback to perhaps the most meaningful gift I’ve ever been given, a gold leaf dipped Bible that was blessed by Pope John Paul II. My grandfather who trained to become a priest in Paris in the years after WWII bought it for me and it’s always been incredibly important to me.

Partly because it’s a rare item, but more so because of the religious significance that was amplified through the act of it being given as a gift. Even in periods where my faith was dampened this Bible was incredibly important to me and I will always take care of it.

While you don’t necessarily have to buy Bibles for the men in your life, spiritual and religious gifts can have great meaning, especially when they are unique. Another fantastic gift I received was a rosary which is extraordinarily beautiful, but you could even consider gifting him a leather planner or journal that is engraved with a cross.

4. Made-to-Measure Shirts

Buying clothes for people can be tricky, especially if you’re unsure of what size they wear. Plus, it can sometimes feel a little dull, but made-to-measure services like Indochino change that entirely. Most men can’t afford custom shirts and suits, but Indochino hopes to make that a thing of the past, offering made-to-measure attire for a reasonable price.

This gift combines an experience and an item because you can customize your shirt in-store or online, deciding exactly how you want it to look.

5. Wool Sweater

With the temperature dropping everyday a warm wool sweater is invaluable. However, if the men in your life are anything like the ones that I know, they will resist heading to the shops until there arms about to freeze. Fix that for them by getting a wool sweater in a color that will match the pants and coats that they wear most frequently.

6. Lined Leather Gloves

Most of us wear thin cheap gloves, but there are plenty of luxurious pairs on the market that provide far more warmth and protection whilst also looking great. In my opinion, lined leather gloves are the best that you can buy. Leather is naturally weather resistant and a lining of wool or faux-fur provides a soft and warm inside that you won’t want to take your hands out of.

7. Google Home

You might not have heard of Google Home before but it’s an innovative device that listens to your commands and gives you answers instantly. Not only that, but it also doubles as an all-in-one music player. I’ve had mine for a few months now and use it everyday to check the weather, the time and the local news.

Quick commands like “Hey Google, play a Christmas playlist” will result in an endless supply of festive music, all without having to plug-in any devices or find any music.

8. Wallet

Wallets are always a safe gift to buy because they are relatively cheap and most men go through wallets quickly as they stress and tear. This is the ideal gift for somebody that you don’t want to spend a lot of money on. You can find wallets for under $30 in many shops but if you’re willing to spend more you can get custom engraved wallets too.

9. Underwear

While underwear might seem like an odd present to buy for a man, it’s tremendously practical and subscription services like Me Undies also (and dont’ forget to download the Ebates.com Chrome extension or app so that you get some cash back) make it more interesting. Rather than buying them a few pairs at once you can buy them a subscription to a service that ships them a brand new pair every month.

Not only is this more exciting as they get a new present each month, but the quality of the underwear is also exceptional for this price point.
