Tichel Tying on a Budget

Head Covering on a budget? Love Wrapunzel but can’t afford a gripper or volumizer? Here are some workarounds to tichel tying on a budget.

Things I use for tichel tying on a budget:

  • A baby blanket for a gripper (in lieu of a velvet headband)
  • Multiple sock buns for a volumizer

Tips:

  • Don’t tie tightly or you’ll get a headache
  • Use a pin to secure blanket instead of tying

Places I like to buy scarves on a budget:

  • Five Below
  • Goodwill
  • Walmart

I just came across your video about the Tichel covering. It was easy to understand and I love how inexpensive it is to do. I have shoulder length hair, so I know the extra volume is a no go for me, but I’m going to try it today. If it looks good and my husband likes it, I’ll wear it tomorrow to church. Shalom.
